The Varsity Basketball team lost in a tremendous state tournament game in overtime to Atlantic Shores Christian. The team finished 17-7 on the season and ranked number #9 in the state.

The Tigers finished the conference season at Holy Cross on Thursday night. In a one-sided affair that saw the Tigers on top, 77-40, 12 different players scored. Tim Buchikos led the way with 17 points. Josh Farmer added 13, Lyndon Massenburg 11, and Malachi Paige 10. The win puts Hargrave at 15-5 (10-2) on the season and ranked #7 in the state.

Tigers fall to Wildcats

The Tigers hosted the Dan River Wildcats in a non-conference contest on Friday night. The Wildcats were able to jump out to a large early lead in the first half, taking a 46-20 lead into the locker room. The Tigers fought back in the second half, cutting the lead to 13 at one point, but the clock worked against them. The final score was 73-57.

Varsity Basketball Overcomes Slow Start to Move to 1-1 in Conference

The TIgers came out of the gates sluggish against the Gaels of Holy Cross. A back and forth fisrt quarter saw the scrappy Gaels take a one point lead into the break. Hot shooting from beyond the arc helped the Gaels stay close as Hargrave went into intermission with a one point lead, 32-31. The second half was all Hargrave, as the Tigers applied defensive pressure to smother Holy Cross. The Tigers came away with 11 steals in the last two quarters, and a one point lead balloned to 30 before the final buzzer sounded at 78-50.
